VHF & UHF

IC-821
My Icom IC-821 along with my QRP CW Rig for 40 Meters.

I like working Satellites with my Icom IC-821 and also enjoy being able to use both simplex and repeater on 2 meters and 70 centimeters to keep in touch with family and friends. When I got my ticket back in 1998, I was able to talk to stations all over the country through a repeater that was linked to 10 meters. I guess you could say that is when I was truly bit by the bug and it was not too long after that when I upgraded to Tech Plus then General and of course Extra.

Although Extra gives me access to so many more bands, I find myself on VHF and UHF the most. From talking on the W8ACW Club repeaters locally to all of those AO-51 contacts, these bands are the best.

As we progress into cycle 24, new hams will experience the magic band, 6 meters. I made many contacts in 1998 and 1999 on 6 meters from my old QTH in Missouri to North and South Carolina, Georgia and other East Coast States. 6 Meter Repeaters were also on the rise and it was fun seeing who was on FM and SSB at different times throughout the day.
